WSOP 2012 - World Series of Poker Housing
Some times ads for Las Vegas vacation rentals will turn out to be fraudulent. The real danger is that "rental-by-owner" websites do not actually validate their listings. They do not check to see if advertised vacation rentals actually exist. Because vacation rentals typically require payments months in advance, scammers are usually long gone with your money before the ruse is discovered. Much to our disappointment, Las Vegas has it's share of shady businesses and the vacation home rental business is no different.
The problems have certainly been amplified by the economy. Many people are finding that homes they rented online were actually in foreclosure. By the time they arrive, the home has been seized and the customer is left fighting to get his deposit back in bankruptcy court

World Series of Poker participants are in for some real bluffing when it comes to finding a good rental for the tournament. It is not a secret that vacation homes are THE way to go for the long haul. Better staying equals better playing, no doubt about it. But just because you may feel prepared for your battles at the table, doesn't mean to going to win when it comes to finding a good vacation home or condo rental. Before you commit, and send along your deposit check, we recommend considering a few precautionary steps.
Many renters are unaware that since just before the 2008 World Series of Poker, the city of Las Vegas instituted an ordinance governing the proper use of vacation rentals. Although most of you will not face the short term provisions in the city and county, one thing to consider for sure is the capacity that Las Vegas has dictated for vacation rentals. That is, that homes may not be rented with more that 2 people per bedroom.
This flies in the face of what we see advertised, and often conflicts with the plans of many players who intend to rent homes with a group of players in order to be here at the lowest possible price. The city of Las Vegas has decided that 2 people per bedroom is enough, and we agree. We do not think that a four bedroom home filled with 16 people is realistic, fair to the neighbors, or within the spirit of "vacation" that the home was even advertised for in the first place. It is chump lodging, pure and simple.
Don't plan to pack your home unless you intend to assure your outcome as a loser. Be reasonable. If you and 9 of your player buddies can't afford to shell out $29 a night per person for a reasonable 5 bedroom vacation home rental, why bother coming at all? The WSOP is not an event for lowlifes. It's an event for people who intend to win! Be one of them.
We recommend that a good way to find vacation rentals for the WSOP tournament is via Google or Yahoo!. Searching use the typical words associated with "Las Vegas" the "World Series of Poker" "WSOP" and of course "vacation homes" or "vacation rentals".

This article on vacation rental scams has some really good information that will help you make a good choice. Essentially, use your head. Remember all those "sayings" the people recite just after they hear about a friend being taken. Let the buyer beware, caveat emptor, call it what you will, there are a million of them. Remember, those sayings exist for a reason. Don't be the guy people are talking about. Well, at least not for that. Maybe for winning the World Series of Poker, but not for being left out in the cold with the place you rented or the money you rented it with.
All the best in your quest, for a great vacation home, and at the WSOP as well. May this World Series of Poker be best ever for you.
